  Collaborating and Helping:
Lab Rats are students who volunteer their time at lunch and after school to maintain the aquariums, prepare labs, and tutor other students.
  Aquarium Maintenance:
Originally the Lab Rats began as "The Salmon Team" with the "Journey of the Kings" project. Even though they have since expanded their role they continue to perform the following tasks:
  • Testing water quality using CBL & TI-83 w/ temperature and pH probes
  • Using Litmus paper, pH meters, and chemicals to test water for hardness, pH, ammonium, and nitrite
  Using Science and Technology:
Lab Rats must also learn:
  • safe use of science related equipment
  • how to store and handle chemicals
  • use technology in the lab
